Food and Nutrition

Nutritious snacks and meals are prepared according to USDA guidelines. Meal and snack schedules along with menus are posted at each center. If your child is allergic to any food please notify the center in writing.

Centers receiving CACFP ( Child and Adult Food Care Program) funding provide free meals and snacks. If a center is not CACFP funded there may be a charge for meals depending on the rate plan you select.

Bright from the Start Department of Early Care and Learning requires parents of infants to provide food and/or formula. Formula must be mixed by parents. Centers are not allowed to mix the formula. Parents will complete a form instructing the center on time to serve, food to serve and amounts. Staff will record details for parents on the same form. When your baby is ready, please provide finger foods.

If a parent wants to provide food for a special occasion, the food must be prepared by a certified food service and must contain a label identifying the preparer and ingredients.
